Brian Stelter Leaves CNN as Reliable Sources Is Canceled

Brian Stelter is leaving CNN after the network canceled his long-running Sunday show Reliable Sources.

"CNN will end its Reliable Sources program on Sunday, August 21st," the network said in a statement. "As a result Brian Stelter will leave the company. We appreciate his contributions to the network and wish him well as he embarks on new endeavors."

Stelter also told NPR, "It was a rare privilege to lead a weekly show focused on the press at a time when it has never been more consequential."

Reliable Sources has been on the air since 1993, but Stelter began hosting in 2013. It has been one of CNN's longest-running programs.

Stelter has also frequently appeared on other CNN programing, providing commentary on the Trump administration and the former president's attacks on the media.

CNN has undergone a series of changes since new chairman and CEO Chris Licht joined the network in May. Since Discovery's takeover of WarnerMedia, significant cuts have been made, including shutting down streaming service CNN+ just weeks after its launch. CNN+ also included a daily version of Reliable Sources.
