Charlie Kirk GoFundMe deleted over Policy violation as multiple fundraisers from fans emerge in wake of death

Conservative commentator Charlie Kirk’s death has spread shockwaves across the country. The media personality and activist, who was speaking at a “Prove Me Wrong” setup at the Utah Valley University, was shot in the neck, as per People Magazine.

After reportedly being hospitalized, it was announced that Kirk had succumbed to his injuries.

In wake of the influential commentator’s death, fans have dedicated multiple online fundraising campaigns to Kirk and his family.

However, one such campaign, posted to GoFundMe was taken down as the organization cited violations of its policy.

Ariana Masters took to her social media pages to reveal that GoFundMe did not allow her to set up her donation page in wake of Kirk’s death. On X, Masters wrote,

“@gofundme denied my donation page for Charlie Kirk's wife and two daughters. Not only that, but I saw other pages for his family removed as well. Make it make sense.”

It should be noted that Masters incorrectly identified Kirk's children. As per People Magazine, Kirk is a father to one daughter and one son.

Masters also shared a message sent to her from the campaign website, which said that the content had been removed for violating its Terms of Service, while sharing that funds which hadn’t been transferred would be refunded to donators.

GoFundMe, as per Masters screenshot of communications with the organization, stated,

“Your GoFundMe fundraiser was removed because it violates our Terms of Service, which you can view here. Specifically, the content of your fundraiser falls under our "Prohibited Conduct" section 8.2. Fundraisers that are fraudulent, misleading, inaccurate, dishonest or impossible; Our Terms of Service, along with strictly enforced policies from the payments industry, prohibit GoFundMe from allowing your fundraiser to continue raising money on our platform.”

Fundraising campaigns in tribute to Charlie Kirk have been published on other platforms

As fans claim that GoFundMe is disallowing them to set up fundraising campaigns in support of Charlie Kirk and his family, they have been sharing campaigns posted to alternate websites.

In particular, fans have taken to fundraising website GiveSendGo to collect donations in tribute to Kirk.

A donation page set up for Kirk’s family on GiveSendGo has shared that it has collected over $128,000 for the deceased commentator out of a total target of $1,000,000.

The page has been set up by an organization called the Liberty Memes Foundation and states that all proceeds collected would be directly transferred to Kirk’s wife and children.

A second campaign in honor of Kirk has been set up on the campaign website.

The campaign, set up by Utah Senator Daniel McCay, makes note of Kirk’s devoted engagement with students, particularly at the Utah Valley University where he was shot.

The fundraiser shared its intent to establish a memorial at the university in honor of Kirk, and stated,

“To celebrate Charlie’s enduring impact, we are launching this fundraiser to erect a memorial in his honor at Utah Valley University. Our goal is to raise **$50,000** to create a dignified and lasting tribute—a beautifully crafted monument featuring a plaque inscribed with the words: “Good men must die, but death can’t kill their names.” These words reflect the timeless truth that Charlie’s name, ideas, and influence will live on in the hearts and minds of those he inspired...The memorial will serve as a gathering place for students, faculty, and visitors to reflect on Charlie’s legacy of courage, conviction, and dedication to fostering open discourse.”

The fund set up by Senator McCay has raised close to $1,000, as of the writing of this article.
