CNN Boss to Staffers: 'More Changes' Coming, 'And You Might Not Understand It or Like It'

One day after CNN canceled Reliable Sources, prompting Brian Stelter's exit, boss Chris Licht told staffers to expect more changes at the cable news network.

According to The Daily Beast, Licht attempted to calm concerned staffers during a Friday morning meeting. "We will continue covering media stories, including on TV, when warranted," he reportedly said, responding to concerns that CNN will no longer emphasis the media stories presented by Reliable Souces.

"I really appreciate all that Brian has done to build the media beat for CNN," he added of longtime anchor Stelter. "He's a great human being and a good person. I wish him all the best on his new venture."

However, Licht was clear Stelter's exit would not be the last shift at the embattled network. "This is a time of change, and I know that it's unsettling," he said, per The Daily Beast. "There will be more changes and you might not understand it or like it all."

Licht then urged staffers to wait and see before passing judgment on future changes, saying, "Give us some time, see how things develop, and then give us feedback."

A CNN spokesperson confirmed Licht's comments to The Daily Beast and added, "We're constantly changing things and making decisions."

Stelter's exit and the cancelation of Reliable Sources has been the biggest change at CNN since Licht came on as head of the network. Other top-down shifts include using the "Breaking News" banner less frequently, no longer referring to Trump's false election claims as "The Big Lie," and possibly ousting partisan CNN personalities.
