Country singer Conner Smith now faces legal issues after a tragic event in Nashville. His truck hit and killed a woman as she walked across the road.
Conner's lawyer, Worrick G. Robinson IV, said that the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department gave Conner a small legal note under state law. Robinson also mentioned that Conner is very thankful for the MNPD's hard work and care in investigating the incident.
Robinson said:
"Conner is incredibly grateful to the MNPD for their time and efforts to carefully investigate this tragic accident and has continued to cooperate at all times. His thoughts remain with Ms. Dobbins’ family, and he remains committed to honoring her memory with compassion by supporting efforts to improve pedestrian safety and help prevent future tragedies."
On June 8, Conner Smith, a 24-year-old man, was driving his Chevrolet Silverado when he didn't give way and hit Dorothy Dobbins. She was 77 and crossing the street inside a marked crosswalk. The crash hurt her so bad that she had to be taken fast to Vanderbilt University Medical Center. However, she succumbed to her injuries.
After this, Smith was charged with a misdemeanor for not giving way.
The crash happened as Nashville's big CMA Fest was ending, making both fans and locals worried. It is thought that Smith's mistake of not giving way was the key cause of the crash, but when cops got there, they saw no signs he was unfit to drive. Reportedly, Smith was not on drugs or using his phone then.
Growing up in Nashville, Smith has always been in the city's lively country music scene. This link got even deeper when he got a nod for New Male Artist of the Year at the 2024 ACM Awards. With Big Machine Records, he has been building his name on the country music charts.
