Get ready to steal the Declaration of Independence. National Treasure is back, this time as a 10-episode series on Disney+.
National Treasure: Edge of History stars Lisette Olivera as Jess Morales, a 20-year-old Dreamer who sets off on an adventure to recover lost Pan-American treasure. The series is inspired by the Nicolas Cage films, but will focus primarily on Jess, a Hispanic Latina-American, who is joined by some familiar faces from the franchise.
Disney+ offered a first look at the new treasure hunter in a brief teaser released during the show's Comic-Con panel on Thursday. The streamer also released a behind-the-scenes featurette of the National Treasure reboot.
Harvey Keitel is set to return as antihero and FBI Special Agent Peter Sadusky. Justin Bartha, who played Benjamin Franklin Gates' best friend and computer-genius sidekick, Riley Poole, will also return for a guest appearance.
Unfortunately, fans will not see the return of Cage as Benjamin. During the Comic-Con panel, producer Marianne Wibberley said, "We wanted him, but he is very busy." Olivera added that she's hopeful Cage will "maybe" reprise his role in the future.
The National Treasure films are currently streaming on Disney+.
