Fox Has 'Absolutely No Regrets' About Rudy Giuliani's Masked Singer Appearance

Fox has "absolutely no regrets" about casting Rudy Giuliani on The Masked Singer, executive Rob Wade said on Monday morning.

In The Masked Singer's April 20 episode, Giuliani appeared as mystery character Jack-in-the-Box and sang an off-key version of George Thorogood and the Destroyers' "Bad to the Bone." Panelist Ken Jeong was visibly upset by the reveal, announcing, "I'm done," and walking off set. After the episode aired, the controversial casting decision was met with a good deal of backlash from viewers and critics alike.

According to Yahoo, Wade, president of alternative entertainment & specials at Fox Entertainment, was asked about Giuliani's appearance during a Monday morning conference call announcing Fox's fall lineup. "Yeah, absolutely no regrets," he said. "The marketing is all about delivering jaw dropping moments, which is exactly what the casting accomplished. And whether it was on set or with the viewers at home I suppose my only regret or surprise was obviously the reveal was spoiled [by the press], but kudos to you guys. Just please don’t do it again. Thanks a lot."
