FOX is apologizing for a graphic that aired during the network's Saturday night game between the New York Yankees and the New York Mets.
Viewers were quick to point out the ill-conceived graphic, which was broadcast as the game went to commercial and featured logos for the two teams superimposed onto the memorial reflecting pools at the National September 11 Memorial and Museum at the World Trade Center. The pools are where the twin towers once stood in lower Manhattan.
"Of all the NYC aerial shots Fox Sports could have used, they decided to superimpose their baseball logo over the 9/11 Memorial? Horrible" tweeted WCBS radio news anchor Steve Scott.
"Amazing that someone thought this was a good idea. I don’t use the word disgraceful a lot but this sure is," wrote another viewer.
The official Twitter account for the September 11 National Day of Service and Remembrance was quick to condemn the network, tweeting "Hard to believe. @FOXSports owes the 9/11 community an apology. On air. For those who do not recognize this aerial image, it is Ground Zero of the 9/11 attacks."

A spokesperson for FOX Sports did issue an apology later Saturday night, telling The Daily Beast, "During tonight’s telecast, we used poor judgement on the use of a graphic. We sincerely apologize and regret the decision."
