September 2025 is just in its second week, but has already marked a gloomy start with multiple shocking events taking place across the country. One of these incidents is the death of Charlie Kirk, the young MAGA influencer and political activist who was shot dead at an event at the Utah Valley University.

Here's a deeper look at the events that have painted a picture of horror for the country.

5 big events to mark in September 2025, explored

    1) Charlie Kirk's killing

Charlie Kirk, who was at the UVU on Wednesday, September 10, as part of his American Comeback Tour, was shot while conducting a Q&A session with the crowd. The shooting led to the crowd scrambling across the campus.

After Kirk was taken to a hospital right afterwards, he couldn't survive his gunshot wound and was announced dead by President Trump himself. While the shooter behind the podcaster's killing remains at large, an organized manhunt is ongoing to catch him.

    2) Shooting in a Denver high school

On Wednesday, September 10, a shooting incident took place at the Evergreen High School in Colorado, Denver, during which two students suffered serious wounds.

CNN reported that the suspect behind the shooting was later found to be a male student of the school, who also had a self-inflicted gunshot wound and passed away after he was hospitalized. This is the 47th time a school shooting has taken place in the country in 2025 alone.

    3) Gas Truck explosion

The third dreadful incident that occurred on Wednesday, September 10, was when a tanker truck exploded in Mexico City. The truck was carrying over 49,000 liters of gas and overturned on the highway in the Puente de la Concordia area.

The explosion has killed at least four people, with 90 others being injured in it. The cause behind the explosion is currently being investigated, as is the condition of the driver behind the wheel.

    4) ICE raid in Georgia

On Thursday, September 11, more than 300 immigrant South Korean workers in Georgia were detained by the US immigration authorities. Today, these workers have been repatriated to their native country, with their flights to South Korea booked.

The South Korean workers were discovered and taken into custody last week, as part of an ICE raid conducted at Ellabell's Hyundai battery plant. Ever since a picture of the workers being restrained with chains has surfaced on the internet, it has sparked a backlash in South Korea.

    5) The 24th anniversary of 9/11

In addition to all the horrific events that have been taking place in the country this month, September 2025 also has historical significance in the US.

This month marks the 24th anniversary of the 9/11 tragedy, when 19 al-Qaeda terrorists hijacked four airplanes, crashing two of them into the World Trade Center's Twin Towers in New York.

The third plane crashed into the Pentagon in Virginia, while the fourth crashed into a rural Pennsylvania field. In the aftermath of the incident, over 3,000 people were killed both in the air and on the ground.
