The Trailer for George & Tammy Sees Jessica Chastain & Michael Shannon Play a Country Music Power Couple

Jessica Chastain is stepping into another Tammy's shoes.

Following her Oscar win for playing televangelist Tamara Faye Messner in The Eyes of Tammy Faye, Chastain is taking on country singer Tammy Wynette. In the trailer for upcoming limited series George & Tammy, Chastain stars opposite Michael Shannon as iconic country music couple Wynette and George Jones.

Created by Abe Sylvia (The Eyes of Tammy Faye, Dead to Me, Nurse Jackie) and directed by John Hillcoat (The Road), George & Tammy chronicles their lives and careers highs, lows, and everything in between. "You can’t bear happiness," Chastain says. "Nobody wants me happy," Shannon replies.

Rounding out the cast is Steve Zahn (The White Lotus), Kelly McCormack (Letterkenny), Walton Goggins (The Righteous Gemstones), Pat Healy (Station 19), David Wilson Barnes (Perry Mason), and Katy Mixon (American Housewife). 

The first episode of George & Tammy will debut on Showtime and Paramount Network on December 4 at 9/8c. Subsequent episodes will air exclusively on Showtime.
