A Miami pool attendant changed his entire life - and the lives of more than a few others - when he accepted a woman's invitation to go back to her hotel room. 

That's what sparked the series of events that led to the downfall of the prominent Falwell family, a story explored in upcoming Hulu documentary God Forbid: The Sex Scandal That Brought Down a Dynasty. Giancarlo Granda, the former pool attendant in question, began a 7-year relationship with Becki Falwell back in 2012. 

He didn't know then what the implications of this fling would be. "As a pool attendant, I would get hit on," he explains. "But if I would have known that accepting this woman's invitation to go back to her hotel room would have led to a scandal involving the president of the largest Christian university in the world, and the President of the United States, I would have walked away and just enjoyed my private life."

Granda fell into the world of the Evangelical Falwell family, an entanglement that would lead to Jerry Falwell Jr. resigning from his position as president of Liberty University and influence the presidential election.

"They have a public image, but behind the scenes, they're freaks," Granda says. "If they wanted to make me disappear, they can do it."

God Forbid: The Sex Scandal That Brought Down a Dynasty begins streaming on Hulu November 1.
