Gregory Itzin, 24 and Star Trek Actor, Dies at 74

Itzin was best known for playing the evil President Logan on 24.

    Gregory Itzin, best known for his role as the villainous President Charles Logan on 24, died Friday at the age of 74.

    Jon Cassar, a director and producer on 24, announced the actor's death on Twitter.

    "My friend Greg Itzin passed away today," wrote Cassar. "He was one of the most talented actors I had the honor to work with, but more than that he was an all around great guy. He'll be missed by his 24 family who had nothing but love & respect for him."

    Itzin was nominated for two Emmys for his role as President Logan on 24, one for Supporting Actor in a Drama and the other for Guest Actor in a Drama.

    In addition to his work on 24, Itzin had a recurring role on Friends as Theodore Hannigan, the father of Paul Rudd's character Mike Hannigan. He also appeared in five Star Trek shows, landing different roles in Enterprise, Voyager, and Deep Space Nine, and series including Murder One, MacGyver, and NCIS.
