Horror fans are in luck, because Oscar winner Guillermo del Toro is bringing eight brand-new spooky stories to Netflix in his anthology series, Cabinet of Curiosities. Each terrifying tale is brought to life by writers and directors who were hand-picked by del Toro himself.
The teaser for the series, released Monday, offers a glimpse of the terrors and delights that viewers will experience this Halloween. Del Toro says in the trailer, "Some are savory. Some are sweet. You get a surprise from each of the bites."
Cabinet of Curiosities is described by del Toro as a way to "showcase the realities existing outside of our normal world: the anomalies and curiosities... whether they come from outer space, supernatural lore, or simply within our minds." He said each of the eight tales is a "fantastical peek inside the cabinet of delights existing underneath the reality we live in."
The eight stories are directed by Catherine Hardwicke, David Prior, and Ana Lily Amirpour, among others. Episodes feature a wide range of stars, including Rupert Grint, David Hewlett, Tim Blake Nelson, Ben Barnes, Andrew Lincoln, and F. Murray Abraham.
In the teaser, Del Toro also discusses how the team behind Cabinet of Curiosities brought each tale to life through practical effects, creating truly great monsters. In addition, he said all of the directors were given complete ownership over their episodes.
Guillermo del Toro's Cabinet of Curiosities premieres October 25 on Netflix, with two new stories dropping each day through October 28.
