HBO Max has removed 250 legacy episodes of Sesame Street from its platform, according to a breakdown published Friday on ToughPigs.com.
The episodes removed are all from the first 38 seasons of the show, and now, only 29 episodes remain on HBO Max from the years 1969 to 2007. Of the episodes that remain from the first 38 seasons, there are five from Season 1, 14 from Season 5, and 10 from Season 7. From there, there's a large gap, with the next available episodes being from Sesame Street Season 39.
The 250 deleted episodes make up a sizable chunk of Sesame Street's library. They were removed from HBO Max with no warning, and Warner Bros. Discovery has not revealed any information about whether those episodes will be available again in the future.
Ahead of the planned merger of HBO Max and Discovery+, HBO Max has removed a large swathe of content from its platform. Earlier this week, Warner Bros. Discovery announced it will be pulling 36 titles from the HBO Max; it also recently removed six HBO Max originals with no prior warning.
Primetimer has reached out to Warner Bros. Discovery and Sesame Workshop for comment but did not hear back by the time of publication.
