Hulu has released the first teaser for its new ten-part docuseries Legacy: The True Story of the LA Lakers.
Legacy follows the rise and success of the Lakers, beginning with the story of Dr. Jerry Buss and his decision to purchase the team in a risky business deal in 1979. The series features exclusive access to the Buss family, as well as interviews with players, coaches, and front office executives.
According to Hulu, the docuseries will tell the story of how Buss "pioneered the business of basketball" amid "notorious feuds, career-ending illnesses, and a bevy of insurmountable on-court obstacles."
"Ultimately, Legacy: The True Story of the LA Lakers is about family, business, and power — and how all three must be harnessed to achieve greatness," said Hulu in a statement.
HBO's recent drama series Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty covered much of the same ground, but was condemned by various Lakers insiders, including Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, who said the series "avoided facts as if they were an STD."
A release date for Hulu's Legacy: The True Story of the LA Lakers has not yet been announced.
