Rumors started swirling about whether FaZe Rug would potentially become the new CEO of the FaZe Clan following Ricky FaZe Banks’ departure due to a recent controversy, but Rug's recent claims indicate that the decision has not been made regarding the next CEO.

On July 28, FaZe CEO Banks explained that he was done with “this internet sht” after receiving criticism for the MLG crypto token. The meme coin’s value tanked, leading to the investors accusing Banks and his fellow FaZe members of “scamming” fans.

On the other hand, a viral tweet announced that FaZe Rug (born Brian Awadis) has been named the company’s new CEO. Rug had long served as a FaZe director, and members of his family had been prominent fixtures in the group’s content.

But FaZe Rug was quick to deny the speculation, as he remarked that he knew nothing about the decision and said it was too soon to assume things.

"I saw that tweet. Am I actually? Wait no, it's not. That's false. I don't even know what happened," he said adressing his stream.

FaZe Banks blamed streamer Adin Ross for the crash in a leaked group chat, though Ross denied responsibility. Just hours after promising to discuss the drama on stream, Banks suddenly resigned, claiming mental health issues and unfair allegations.

"On the phone with Adin right now, we’re doing a stream together tonight to address ALL OF THIS. This whole thing has been wildly miscommunicated and has destroyed my mental the last several months. I’ve wanted to talk more publicly about this situation for a while," Banks said in a statement.

His parents also appear on his channel regularly, who he lovingly refers to as “Mama Rug” and “Papa Rug.” His brother, Brandon Awadis (who’s also a YouTuber), is someone who he frequently features in his collaborative content (Memes Download).

He used to date Kaelyn and was rumoured to be in a relationship with model Molly Eskam, but as of 2025 he is single.

As FaZe Banks is out, and Rug is denying any participation, the fate of FaZe’s leadership is now in the air. For now, the CEO’s seat remains empty.
