Jennifer Lopez's Nuyorican Productions is partnering with Skydance Television and Concord Originals to bring a new adaptation of Cinderella to the screen. A fresh take on the Rodgers & Hammerstein musical, the limited series will be written by Rachel Shukert of GLOW and The Baby-Sitters Club. Shukert will also serve as showrunner and executive producer.
The Cinderella series is the first project under Lopez's deal with Concord Originals and Skydance to produce a variety of original programming based on Concord's vast musical catalog.
“The story of Cinderella is as timeless now as ever,” said Bill Bost, President of Skydance Television, in a statement. “This aspirational story of romance, unconventional families, and the surprising power of wishes has inspired audiences around the world for centuries, and we are thrilled to be working with Jennifer, Rachel, Concord, and The Rodgers & Hammerstein Organization to bring our fresh take to the screen.”
Sophia Dilley of Concord Originals added that the project would be "the first step of many towards our collective goal of championing timeless classics for a new generation."
