Music mogul Jermaine Dupri showed up on the BagFuel Podcast to talk about how the Migos' splitting up has shaken things up. He also shared his thoughts on what Quavo and Offset are doing now. Dupri pointed out that the group's breaking up didn't just affect the artists - it put a damper on Atlanta's cultural and musical vibe. Dupri believes Quavo and Offset made better music together than they do on their own now. He thinks their teamwork really shaped Atlanta's music scene.

“That hurt a lot of the city, period,” he stated. “The Migos breaking up was a bad situation for Atlanta because they was moving — and I think they’re better together anyway, me personally.” Dupri also discussed his shock upon learning that Takeoff died. “It was really crazy for us. I ain’t think Atlanta n****s was gonna die,” he said. “An Atlanta rapper dying felt like ‘Aw damn, what the f**k is going on?’ It felt crazy to me.”

These comments come after the group called it quits, following the tragic loss of their bandmate Takeoff. Takeoff, Quavo's nephew and Offset's close friend, died from gunshot wounds in 2022. He and Quavo put out a joint album, Built For Infinity Links, just a short time before his death. This loss hit fans and artists hard, and many saw it as a pivotal moment for the group. Quavo and Offset have mostly gone their separate ways since then.

Quavo is now working on a new album, which people think will be called Satchamo as a tribute to jazz great Louis Armstrong. Meanwhile, Offset plans to name his next album Kiari, which is his birth name. He just put out a new song called "Bodies," featuring JID, a rapper from Atlanta. This track samples Drowning Pool. Both artists keep working on their own projects, but they did come together for a short time at the 2023 BET Awards. They performed a tribute to honor Takeoff. This was the first time they appeared in public together since the tragic event.

Not long ago, they were seen together again at a private party to celebrate what would have been Takeoff's 31st birthday. This shows they still have a personal bond even if they're not working together. There's no official word on whether Quavo and Offset will team up again, but their recent public sightings have got fans talking. As both artists get ready to drop their new albums in the coming months, all eyes are on their separate paths in the changing world of hip-hop.
