Great minds? Both Jimmy Fallon and Trevor Noah told the same joke Monday night after it was revealed over the weekend that the FBI seized 11 sets of classified documents from Donald Trump's Florida home.
After first joking that Trump had kept the documents hoping to come across KFC's secret blend of 11 herbs and spices, Fallon said: "Just a thought — if the government doesn't want people reading those files, maybe they shouldn't label them 'top secret.' It's like a guy labeling a porn folder on his computer 'best porn.' Just call it 'banana bread recipe' — no one will open it."
Over on The Daily Show, Trevor Noah had a strikingly similar response.
"If you ask me, the government is partly responsible. [They're] partly responsible for labeling the files 'top secret.' Because think about it — nobody wants to read boxes of 'government documents.' But if it says 'top secret' on it, now everyone's interested. It's the same way you don't label your porn folder 'porn.' The government should do what we do: put secrets in a folder named 'Taxes 2012-2017.'"
It's not the first time two late night hosts have told essentially the same joke.
This past April, Fallon and James Corden told similar jokes about Elon Musk's offer to purchase Twitter. And in 2018, YouTuber Brian Stockton monitored each of the late night show monologues to create three compilations of Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel, Stephen Colbert, James Corden, Seth Meyers and Trevor Noah all telling the same jokes.
