Kit Harington 'Created' Game of Thrones Jon Snow Spinoff

One week after news broke that HBO is developing a Game of Thrones series centered on Jon Snow, played by Kit Harington, new details have emerged about the spinoff. Not only was Harington happy to reprise his iconic role, but he actually came up with the idea for the series himself.

In an interview with the BBC, Emilia Clarke, who played Jon Snow's ill-fated love interest Daenerys Targaryen, addressed Harington's new series, saying, "He has told me about it. And I know it exists. It's happening."

Clarke went on to say the series was "created by Kit" and that "he's in it from the ground up."

"So what you will be watching," Clarke continued, "Hopefully, if it happens, is certified by Kit Harington."

Author George R.R. Martin confirmed Clarke's remarks on his blog Thursday. "Yes, it was Kit Harrington who brought the idea to us," he wrote. "I cannot tell you the names of the writers/showrunners, since that has not been cleared for release yet, but Kit brought them in too, his own team, and they are terrific."

The author, whose "A Song of Ice and Fire" book series serves as the source material for Game of Thrones, also confirmed he is involved with Harington's spinoff, which has a working title of Snow.

"Kit's team have visited me here in Santa Fe and worked with me and my own team of brilliant, talented writer/consultants to hammer out the show," Martin said, adding that there is always the chance the show doesn't make it to fans' screens.

"There are four live-action successor shows in development at HBO... The likelihood of all four series getting on the air... well, I'd love it, but that's not the way it works, usually," he wrote. "Here is hoping."

Game of Thrones is available to stream in its entirety on HBO Max.
