Kristin Cavallari Says She Would Be 'Canceled' If Laguna Beach Aired Today

Kristin Cavallari knows that some of the language she used on Laguna Beach wouldn't go over well if the early aughts reality series aired today. While speaking to Stephen Colletti on their rewatch podcast "Back to the Beach with Kristin and Stephen," the reality star reflected on the series' second episode with regret.

"I'm gonna give myself an F," she said. "I said some dumb stuff. I looked like a little brat. I'd say this was not my best episode for sure."

In the episode, Cavallari casually used an ableist slur, a move she knows would no longer fly on television. "I mean, like, I feel like I would get canceled for something like that today," she said.

Colletti agreed, saying, "We all look back on some of this stuff that we say and, you know, shake your head."

The pair went on to discuss how naive they were while filming the show's first season as teenagers. Cavallari said she "learned very quickly" that producers wanted to capture dramatic moments.

"You only know so much while you're filming the season, what's going to happen, how it's going to be edited. And then when you see it, you're like, 'Wow, OK. This is what they do,'" she revealed.

"If you are trying to have a conversation — I remember sometimes going in the bathroom and talking to your friend about whatever," Cavallari continued. "Because you think, 'I'm off camera,' but they're listening the entire time and they're still recording your audio, which then they can put in anywhere."

She added, "As long as I have a microphone on, I am not safe."

Cavallari acknowledged that hot mic or not, there are still things she never should have said, explaining, "The hardest part about watching the show is hearing how I f*cking talked."

All three seasons of Laguna Beach are currently streaming on Paramount+.
