When Leslie Jordan arrived on set to play Cricket Marlowe in American Horror Story: Roanoke, he was introduced to one of the world's biggest stars, but he didn't know it at the time.
The actor revealed that when he was first introduced to Grammy and Oscar-winning singer and actress Lady Gaga on set, he didn't recognize her. As Jordan told Fancy Hagood on Wednesday's episode of the Trailblazers Radio show, "the first day, I showed up and there was a girl standing there and they said, 'Leslie, have you met Stefani?' And I thought she was maybe an extra. I didn't know who she was."
Gaga, whose real name is Stefani Germanotta, was dressed as Scáthach, an immortal, forest-dwelling witch. The star looked completely unlike herself in costume, which featured long, messy red hair, dirty skin, and tattered clothes.
Jordan said he assumed she was just another person on set, so he politely introduced himself by saying, "Nice to meet you. Welcome aboard," and walked away, much to the surprise of the cast and crew.
"They could tell I didn't know," Jordan said. "They go, 'Leslie, that's Gaga.' I go, 'Huh-uh.' They said, 'Yes, it's Gaga.'"
Despite the snafu, Jordan added that Gaga "was just adorable" and a "little wisp of a thing."
