Matt Smith thinks there might be too much sex in HBO's Game of Thrones prequel series, House of the Dragon.
Smith stars as Prince Daemon Targaryen in the new series, and in an interview with Rolling Stone UK, he spoke candidly about the sex scenes on the show.
"You do find yourself asking, 'Do we need another sex scene?'" said Smith. "And they're like, 'Yeah, we do.' I guess you have to ask yourself: 'What are you doing? Are you representing the books, or are you diluting the books to represent the time [we're living in]?' And I actually think it's your job to represent the books truthfully and honestly, as they were written."
House of the Dragon is based on George R.R. Martin's novel "Fire and Blood," which takes place 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones, following the Targaryen dynasty.
Asked if he himself had to shoot sex scenes for House of the Dragon, Smith laughed, "Yeah — slightly too much, if you ask me."
House of the Dragon premieres Sunday, August 21 on HBO and HBO Max.
