Matthew Morrison Denies Sending 'Flirty' Messages to SYTYCD Contestant

Matthew Morrison is defending himself against recent allegations that he sent "flirty" messages to a female contestant on So You Think You Can Dance.

Morrison announced his departure from the show last Friday, explaining that he did not follow "competition production protocol." On Tuesday, People reported that Morrison sent "flirty direct messages on social media," which made a dancer on the show feel uncomfortable. In an Instagram video posted on Thursday, Morrison told his side of the story and attempted to "clarify" People's report.

"It's really unfortunate that I have to sit here and defend myself and my family against blatantly untrue statements made anonymously, but I have nothing to hide," Morrison said in the video. "So in the interest of transparency, I will read to you the one message that I wrote to a dancer on the show: 'Hey, it's Matthew. If you don't mind, would love to get your number and talk you through some things.'"

Morrison added, "I sent this because this dancer and I both share a mutual respect for a choreographer that I've known for over 20 years, and I was trying to help her get a job as a choreographer on the show. It's devastating that we live in this world where gossip rules and people's lives are being thrown around as clickbait."

New episodes of So You Think You Can Dance air on Wednesday nights at 9:00 PM ET on FOX. The competition streams next-day on Hulu.
