The only woman more savage than Tatiana Maslany's Jennifer Walters? Megan Thee Stallion.
In a major pop culture crossover, Megan Thee Stallion made an appearance in Thursday's episode of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, livening up the Marvel series with her twerking skills.
The rapper was referenced repeatedly throughout Episode 3, "The People vs. Emil Blonsky," which sees Dennis Bukowski (Drew Matthews), Jennifer's former colleague in the D.A.'s office, sue an Asgardian shapeshifter who transforms into Megan Thee Stallion and attempts to seduce him. Megan Thee Stallion pops up in court and declares herself the real celebrity, and in a post-credits scene later in the episode, she hires Jennifer, a Megan superfan, as her lawyer.
Naturally, the only way to celebrate is with some twerking to Megan Thee Stallion's hit "Body." All is going well until Jennifer insists she will "kill" for the rapper, prompting Megan to reply, "Dial it back."
In an interview with Variety, She-Hulk writer Jessica Gao revealed "there was a big, varied list" of celebrities who could fill the role in the episode. When the team settled on Megan Thee Stallion, a suggestion made by star Jameela Jamil, Maslany was ecstatic.
"I probably was pretty close to tears with excitement," said Maslany. "I'm such a big fan of hers."
"That was like the highlight of my life," she added. "When Jess was like, 'We're writing you a scene where you're dancing with her,' I basically died. Like, I fell off the planet. I fixated on that moment for two weeks, and I couldn't talk to her. I didn't know how to be around her."
Clearly, everything worked out in the end — and Disney's CGI wizards even made Jennifer Walters' body-ody-ody-ody look normal.
