Netflix has added a disclaimer to The Crown's Season 5 trailer.

After criticism from individuals like former Prime Minister John Major and Dame Judi Dench, the streamer has included language in the caption of the YouTube video clarifying that the series is a work of fiction.

"Inspired by real events, this fictional dramatization tells the story of Queen Elizabeth II and the political and personal events that shaped her reign," reads the disclaimer. This is the first trailer for The Crown to use this kind of language, though press statements in the past have labeled the series "a drama based on historical events".

The award-winning Netflix original has come under fire in recent weeks for its impending depiction of Prince Charles and Princess Diana's tumultuous divorce.

The Crown Season 5 debuts on Netflix November 9. Seasons 1-4 are currently streaming on the platform.
