In the wake of Tuesday's Texas school shooting, Netflix has added a last-minute warning to the fourth season of Stranger Things, which dropped on the service early Friday.

"We filmed this season of Stranger Things a year ago," reads the warning. "But given the recent tragic shooting at a school in Texas, viewers may find the opening scene of episode 1 distressing. We are deeply saddened by this unspeakable violence, and our hearts go out to every family mourning a loved one."

In a statement to The Hollywood Reporter, a Netflix spokesperson explained "We decided to add the card given the proximity of the premiere to this tragedy — and because the opening scene is very graphic.”

Netflix actually posted the entire scene to YouTube a week ago, but it has since been pulled down. The streamer has also added a note to the episode description warning of "graphic violence involving children."

Earlier this week CBS pulled the season 4 finale of FBI, which was to feature the team working together to prevent a school shooting.

Stranger Things Season 4 is being released in two volumes. The first seven episodes are now available for streaming, while Volume 2 premieres July 1 with the last two episodes.
