Netflix users seem to have a love-hate relationship with the service.
According to Variety, Whip Media's 2022 Streaming Satisfaction Report found that Netflix subscribers feel the service lacks value, and yet they still wouldn't give up the streamer if forced to make a choice between all available platforms.
Whip Media, an entertainment data and analytics provider, polled 2,460 users of the TV Time app to determine their satisfaction with Netflix, Disney+, HBO Max, Apple TV+, Hulu, Peacock, Paramount+, Amazon Prime Video, and Discovery+. The results showed that 31% of those polled would choose to keep Netflix if they could only have one streaming service. HBO Max came in second with 19% of the vote.
Netflix also ranked number one for user experience and content recommendations.
However, despite the obvious preference for Netflix across multiple categories, the survey also revealed that in terms of perceived value, Netflix came in last among the nine subscription services.
Netflix's recent price increase, which sent Standard Plan pricing soaring to $15.49/month, is likely a factor in subscribers' negative feelings about overall value. In fact, Whip Media's survey showed that of those polled who ditched Netflix, 69% cited increased pricing as their reasoning.
As Netflix's woes continue, it faces serious competition in the Streaming Wars. Whip's survey found that HBO Max, Disney+, and Hulu pose major threats, as all three topped the value satisfaction survey.
