Netflix Is Reviving Reality Competition Series The Mole

Netflix is rebooting The Mole, a competitive reality show that aired its final season on ABC in 2008. The streamer announced Wednesday that a "reimagined version" of the series will premiere this fall.

In the original series, a group of players must complete various challenges while also trying to figure out the identity of "the Mole," a saboteur who has been hired by producers to prevent the team from succeeding.

The first two seasons of The Mole were hosted by Anderson Cooper before he joined CNN, with Ahmad Rashad taking over for seasons three and four, when the show switched to celebrity editions. The Mole then went on a four-year hiatus until 2008, when ABC launched a revival, but the show was canceled due to lackluster ratings.

Netflix has given the reboot a 10-episode order but has not yet revealed the new host.

The original The Mole is currently streaming on Netflix.
