Nolan Neal, a Nashville musician who appeared as a contestant on both America's Got Talent and The Voice, was found dead in his apartment on Monday at the age of 41.
Neal's death was announced on the Nolan Neal Navy Instagram page, which posted a message on Monday night. "Sing in peace with the angels. The world is missing a bright light and Heaven just got a new music director," it reads.
Neal's cousin Dylan Seals confirmed to TMZ that the singer was found dead in his Nashville apartment.
The cause of death is not yet known, but Neal had spoken openly about his past struggles with substance abuse and addiction.
Neal appeared on America's Got Talent in 2020. Some of the standout moments include his performance of his original song "Send Me a Butterfly" during the Season 15 quarterfinals, as well as his performance of another original song, "Lost," during his audition. Neal wrote "Lost" after getting clean, and he earned a standing ovation from all four of the show's judges.
In 2016, Neal appeared on The Voice, where he auditioned with Incubus' song "Drive." He earned a spot on Adam Levine's team before he was eliminated from the competition.
