P. Terry’s to Kerbey Lane, list of restaurants offering support for Texas flood victims

A number of Texas based eateries and chains are contributing to relief efforts

    In the wake of floods that devastated central Texas, various restaurant chains such as P. Terry’s are donating proceeds to disaster relief efforts. The floods claimed the lives of 121 people when the banks of the Guadalupe River were breached after torrential rain from July 4 onwards, as per CNN.

    The news outlet also noted that around 150 people are still reported missing from the Kerr County area which was the worst hit in the disaster, and around 12 people are missing from other parts of the state.

    Casualties were also reported from Camp Mystic, a children’s summer camp in Kerr County, as per BBC.

     

    From P. Terry’s to Kerbey Lane, restaurants that are offering aid in the wake of Texas flood

    P. Terry's Burger Stand, which consists of 36 locations across Texas, and is headquartered in Austin, announced that the chain would be donating all of its profits on Thursday, July 10, to flood relief, as per Fox 7 Austin. As per the news outlet, Patrick Terry, the founder of P. Terry’s said while announcing the restaurant’s effort to support flood victims,

    “What's happened here over the last few days has really been unimaginable. The sadness is everywhere. We’re hoping, as a P. Terry's family, that a small gesture can make a difference. And when we come together with these small gestures, maybe something big will happen. Our community has always been at the heart of who we are. While we may just be a burger stand, we believe we have a responsibility to step up when our neighbors need us most.”

    The proceeds from the burger chain’s profits on July 10 will benefit the Austin Disaster Relief Network's Central Texas Flood fundraising campaign, which is giving emergency support as well as long-term assistance to flood victims.

    On July 10, LoLo Wine at Austin will also be hosting a silent auction to raise funds for the Kerr County Flood Relief Fund. The fund is supporting rebuilding efforts in the Kerr County region and will benefit Boerne, Hunt, Ingram, Kerrville, Center Point and Comfort, as per the fund’s website.

    Veracruz All Natural, a Mexican food chain founded in Austin, will be donating 100% profits from sales on July 10 at all of its locations to support disaster relief efforts in Kerr County. The chain announced that it had partnered with American Red Cross’ Hill Country Chapter to provide food and shelter to the flood victims.

     

    Kerbey Lane Cafe, a restaurant chain operating in Austin as well as San Antonio, will be donating 100% of its profits from July 10 to the Kerr County Flood Relief Fund. The CEO of the chain, Mason Ayer, spoke to KXAN News about the donation, and said,

    “Its this idea that when neighbors are hurting, you show up…if there is ever a time that we need to take care of each other, that time is now.”

    Torchy's Tacos announced that for the entire month of July, the restaurant will be donating $1 for each of its American taco sold to charities supporting flood relief efforts. The restaurant will contribute unto $100,000 to Texas Hill Country flood recovery efforts.
