Peacock Renews Poker Face For Season 2, Guaranteeing a Lot More Natasha Lyonne

Poker Face will be back for another season — and Charlie Cale herself can confirm that’s no lie. Just over halfway through Season 1, Peacock announced that Rian Johnson’s murder-of-the-week comedy series has been renewed for a second season. While no date for that season has yet been announced, Season 1’s finale will be available to stream on March 9.

“Poker Face is one of those rare, undeniable shows that we all fell in love with from the start, but the critical acclaim and viewer response has been beyond our wildest dreams,” said Susan Rovner, Chairman, Entertainment Content, NBCUniversal Television and Streaming.

Part of that acclaim comes from the successful pairing of Natasha Lyonne’s voice in the lead as Cale, a reluctant citizen detective who can inexplicably tell when someone is lying, and Johnson’s snappy dialogue, which modernizes serialized mysteries like Columbo and Murder She Wrote (both of which are incidentally also available to stream on Peacock, making it somewhat of a streaming destination for the genre). That style has also allowed for a revolving door of endlessly entertaining guest stars including Adrien Brody, Lil Rel Howrey, Ellen Barkin, Hong Chau, Judith Light, and S. Epatha Merkerson. It's a model that has been proven to be long lasting, leaving the possibility of many more seasons to come. 

The renewal is great news for Johnson, who told The Hollywood Reporter that he sees Lyonne “Jessica Fletcher-ing it” forever, saying “Natasha and I keep talking about getting old doing this.” So long as there are homicidal liars out there, there’s a place for Charlie Cale to keep doing her thing.
