Yes, That's the Rust Church in Netflix's End of the Road Trailer

The upcoming Queen Latifah movie was filmed months before Alec Baldwin accidentally shot Halyna Hutchins at the same New Mexico location.

The new trailer for the Netflix original movie End of the Road certainly makes the film look like a potboiler, but there's one dramatic shot that probably should have been left on the cutting room floor.

The upcoming film stars Queen Latifah as a recently widowed mother whose roadtrip with her two kids and her brother (played by Chris "Ludacris" Bridges) takes a harrowing turn after a murder and a missing bag of drug money put them in danger.

The trailer does a great job of ratcheting up the tension as the family finds themselves in the crosshairs of a killer, when at about a minute and twenty seconds into the clip, there's an ominous image of Latifah and Bridges standing outside a small town church.

If you've been following the story of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins' death on the set of the film Rust last year, you'll likely recognize that church from news coverage of the tragedy. It was in that church, a filming location at the Bonanza Creek Ranch near Santa Fe, New Mexico, that Alec Baldwin accidentally shot cinematographer Halyna Hutchins while rehearsing a scene. She died later that same day.

While the producers of End of the Road can't be blamed for filming at the church — End of the Road was shot in the summer of 2021, months before Hutchins' death — including an image of the now-infamous church in promotional materials for the film is, if not tasteless, then certainly distracting. Primetimer reached out to Netflix for comment but hadn't heard back by press time.

This isn't the first time the church has appeared on screen. According to sources close to Bonanza Creek Ranch, it was built in 2013 as a location for the Seth MacFarlane film A Million Ways to Die in the West. Other projects shot at the ranch's Western town set include The Ballad of Buster Scruggs, Lonesome Dove, Walker Texas Ranger, and Wild Hogs.

End of the Road premieres on Netflix Friday September 9.
