Seth Green Recovers 'Kidnapped' Bored Ape NFT, the Star of His Animated Series

Seth Green has recovered his stolen Bored Ape NFT, slated to be the star of his new TV series, White Horse Tavern.

Green's Bored Ape Yacht Club #8398 NFT, among other NFTs he owned, was stolen last month in a phishing-related incident, amounting to hundreds of thousands of dollars lost. The Bored Ape NFT, which Green purchased in July 2021, was to be the star of his new show when it was stolen and then subsequently sold, leading Green to make a plea on Twitter for the return of his digital ape.

"I bought that ape in July 2021, and have spent the last several months developing and exploiting the IP to make it into the star of this show," Green said in May. "Then days before — his name is Fred by the way — days before he's set to make his world debut, he's literally kidnapped."

As a result of the "kidnapping," Green paused work on the series, as he no longer had the rights to use the image. However, production is now back on, as Green paid 165 ETH, the equivalent of $260,000 to re-purchase the Bored Ape NFT.

"Fred is back home," Green told BuzzFeed.
