13-year-old Sara James wowed Simon Cowell on America's Got Talent Tuesday night, earning a golden buzzer and a guaranteed spot in the live rounds.
James, a Polish singer, grew up watching videos of America's Got Talent on YouTube, so she came to the U.S. for the first time to try out for herself. "They say that in America, everything is coming true — the dreams will come true," she told the judges. "So I'm checking if that's true."
The 13-year-old singer did not disappoint as she belted out a powerful rendition of Billie Eilish's "Lovely," impressing the judges and receiving a standing ovation from Sofia Vergara, Heidi Klum, and Howie Mandel, along with much of the audience. Although Cowell did not stand up, he was certainly impressed.
"Wow, Sara, Sara, Sara," said Cowell. "We've heard a lot of singers over the years, but wow. There are those moments where — I mean, this wasn't perfect, however, you have a real star glow about you."
"I want to make this a moment for you to remember forever," he added, just before standing up to slam the golden buzzer.
James is the third contestant to receive a golden buzzer this season. Each judge and host Terry Crews can only hit the golden buzzer once per season, meaning there are only two buzzers left.
