Hulu has queued up the next big cult docuseries.
The trailer for Stolen Youth: Inside the Cult at Sarah Lawrence dives deep into the beginnings of conman Larry Ray's influence at the small liberal arts college and the impact of his actions on his victims. "With unprecedented access", the three-part series "excerpts striking first-hand interviews with conman Larry Ray’s victims and incorporates personal audio tapes and video recordings to tell the story of his grim 10 year influence over a group of young people."
Ray's cult - which involved horrors like sex trafficking, extortion, and conspiracy, to name a few - was first investigated in 2019 when New York Magazine published a jaw-dropping story that serves as the basis for the docuseries.
"I was in a freakin' cult," says one victim in the trailer. "I started to believe what he told me about me," recalls another, as chilling images of the students reveal the twisted inner workings of Ray's abuse.
Helmed by Zachary Heinzerling (Icarus), Stolen Youth "follows the story from the cult’s origins in 2010 on the Sarah Lawrence campus until its recent demise, when the last members find their own paths to survival."
Stolen Youth: Inside the Cult at Sarah Lawrence debuts on Hulu February 9, 2023.
