Stranger Things star Joseph Quinn appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon Monday night, but he almost didn't make it after he was detained at the airport by U.S. immigration. What saved him? The actor was recognized as Stranger Things' Eddie Munson and subsequently set free.
"I very nearly didn't make it," Quinn told Fallon. "I was held up at immigration yesterday... I was taken into — I guess what you could call it — it was more of a dungeon. And I was asked to wait there for about 20 minutes, and then I was summoned to this desk where someone asked me, 'What are you doing in the United States, sir?' I said, 'I'm actually here to meet Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show. And he didn't believe me."
At that point, a second immigration officer looked at Quinn, then looked back at his colleague and said, "Leave Eddie alone."
As Quinn tells it, the officer (and Netflix fan) assured his colleague that "he's Eddie from Stranger Things," prompting one major question from the initial officer: "Do you come back next season?"
"And I said, 'I don't know,'" recalled Quinn. "And he was like, 'You better,' gave me the passport."
"And there you go!" replied Fallon. "That's the power of Eddie Munson."
Stranger Things is available to stream on Netflix.
