Terminal List Author Backs Chris Pratt Over 'Woke' Critics

The Terminal List star Chris Pratt made headlines this past weekend after he blasted "woke critics" for giving the show negative reviews. Now author Jack Carr, who wrote the book on which The Terminal List is based, is also speaking out.

Among many other negative reviews for the series, The Daily Beast called it an "unhinged right-wing revenge fantasy."

Appearing on Fox & Friends Tuesday morning, Carr (who is credited as The Terminal List 's creator and executive producer) countered that there is no political angle to the series, saying, "We don't mention right, left, conservative, liberal. None of those things are even mentioned. The Daily Beast, in particular, their review was quite mean."

Carr believes critics are taking issue with the show based on their own political affiliations. "They see an American flag and they get upset," the author said. "Or they see someone who is competent with weapons and has a certain mindset and holds those in power accountable for their actions they just kind of lose it a little bit."

Carr said that despite the series' poor critic score on Rotten Tomatoes, which is currently at 39%, its audience score sits solidly at 94%. Like Pratt, he pointed to the show's 1.6 billion minutes of streams, a metric he said is due to the show avoiding a "woke" agenda.

"There's no 'woke' or 'anti-woke,' but just because there's not this 'woke' stuff that's shoved into it, then it's perceived — by critics, at least — as not promoting their agenda, so they're going to hate it," Carr said.

The Terminal List follows Navy SEAL James Reece (Pratt) as he returns home after his entire platoon is ambushed. It also stars Constance Wu, JD Pardo, Taylor Kitsch, Riley Keough, Arlo Mertz, and Jeanne Tripplehorn.
