Netflix released the teaser for The Sandman, a Neil Gaiman adaptation starring Tom Sturridge, on Monday.
Sturridge plays the Sandman, aka Dream, a powerful cosmic being who controls dreams. In the teaser, we learn that the Sandman was captured and held prisoner over a century ago, and now, he's back, journeying across worlds and timelines to fix the chaos that has ensued in his absence. "I am the king of dreams, ruler of the nightmare realm," Sturridge says in a voiceover.
The Sandman is based on the DC comic series by Neil Gaiman. The series boasts an all-star cast, including Boyd Holbrook, Patton Oswalt, Gwendoline Christie, David Thewlis, and Mark Hamill.
The Sandman premieres August 5 on Netflix.
