HBO has seemingly revealed the premiere date for The Last of Us ahead of an official announcement.

The highly-anticipated video game adaptation had been slated for a 2023 release date, but some eagle-eyed fans spotted a date on the series' official page. If the HBO Max app page is correct, The Last of Us will premiere January 15, 2023.

The Last of Us follows Joel (Pedro Pascal), a shell-shocked survivor of the cordyceps fungus disease that has devastated the United States and morphed its victims into "clickers", zombie-like monsters. In the midst of all the carnage and chaos, Joel is tasked with smuggling young Ellie (Game of Thrones breakout Bella Ramsey) out of a quarantine zone and across the country. This season will reportedly cover the events of the first game and some of The Last of Us Part 2

Gabriel Luna, Merle Dandridge, Nico Parker, Murray Bartlett, Nick Offerman, Anna Torv, Melanie Lynskey, and Jeffrey Pierce round out the ensemble cast.

Chernobyl creator Craig Mazin and video game writer/director Neil Druckmann serve as writers for all ten episodes of The Last of Us.
