Craig Robinson, star of The Office and Peacock's Killing It, was evacuated from a comedy club in Charlotte, North Carolina on Saturday amid an active shooter situation at the venue.
Before Robinson's set, a man at the club brandished a gun and demanded that everyone leave. According to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, he later discharged the gun, but the club was already evacuated, so there were no injuries. The suspect is currently in custody.
A few hours later, Robinson posted a video on Instagram describing the experience.
"I'm safe," he said, explaining he was told to go to a nearby theater while police dealt with the "active shooter."
Robinson added, "I'm cool. It was wild. I was in the green room and they're like, 'Everybody get out.' It was a moment for sure."
He also posted an Instagram statement that reads, "Thank you to the Comedy Zone security and staff for getting us to safety quickly. Thank you everyone for your outpouring of support and well wishes. Thank you CMPD for swift action in apprehending the shooter. Hopefully he gets the help he needs. Thanks be to God no one was hurt. Please stay safe everyone."
Robinson played warehouse worker Darryl Philbin on The Office and recently brought his talents to Peacock as the lead of comedy series Killing It. He also had a recurring guest role on Brooklyn Nine-Nine as car thief Doug Judy. In addition to his work on TV, Robinson has been in a number of movies, including Hot Tub Time Machine, Pineapple Express, This Is the End, and more.
