The deaths of Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Reiner, had shocked many. Meanwhile, cinematographer Barry Markowitz, who has also been Rob's friend, shared his experience of staying at the Reiners' house a few weeks back. In an interview with Page Six, which was published on December 16, Barry shed some light on the relationship that Nick Reiner shared with his parents.
Barry was staying with the Reiners in November while he was visiting Los Angeles for work. According to Barry, he had a great experience living there for the time being and even described it as "one big love fest." During the exclusive interview, the cinematographer said that Nick "looked great" and that he also did many household chores.
Barry Markowitz then seemingly expressed confusion while trying to connect his experience at the Reiners' household and the gruesome murders.
"What's puzzling the most is that there was so much love," said Barry, who has worked with Nick and Rob Reiner in Being Charlie.
Barry continued by stating that the family seemed very close and even ate dinners together. He even described Romy Reiner as being warm and welcoming. He highlighted that he did not notice anything odd going on within the family at the time. Speaking of Rob and Nicki's relationship, Barry believed that they shared a real bond and it wasn't fake.
As aforementioned, Barry Markowitz sat for an exclusive interview with Page Six, where he opened up about his experience at the Reiners' household last month.
"I may have been one of the last people to see them," said Barry.
Barry was reportedly in Los Angeles to attend the premiere of The Perfect Gamble on November 14. This was when Rob invited him to stay at his house as long as he was in the city. Barry spent a lot of his time with Rob and his family, including Michele, Nick, and Romy. According to him, Rob Reiner's other son, Jake, wasn't present at the time. Barry opened up about Nick and said,
"He helped out, he took out the garbage, he watched TV, he washed dishes. He'd bring me something to drink. He was just normal in that sense."
Barry Markowitz told Page Six that Michele and Rob Reiner always had Nick's back during his struggle with substance abuse. According to Barry, Rob tried everything to help Nick out. He further went about calling the late director "a bundle of love." Barry Markowitz also shared kind words for Michele while calling her the "kingpin." He further told the outlet that he was "totally broken" upon losing his friends.
Authorities have arrested Nick Reiner as a suspect in Rob and Michele Reiner's murder. Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman confirmed that they would file first-degree murder charges against Nick. The case currently is an ongoing investigation. Meanwhile, many celebrities and netizens have expressed shock over the unfortunate incident.
