Discovery+ Sets Documentary Special About Armie Hammer's Alleged Crimes

This summer and fall, there will be no shortage of true crime on TV, as ID and Discovery+ have just announced a new slate of true crime specials. The networks have announced over 450 hours of specials, new series, and reboots premiering over the course of the 2022-23 season, most notably a deep-dive into the alleged crimes of Armie Hammer and his family.

Debuting later this year, Discovery+'s House of Hammer (working title) will investigate the sexual abuse allegations against Hammer, who was accused by one woman as being "100% a cannibal" (he has denied the allegations, calling them "bullshit claims"). The special will also explore "the dark, twisted legacy of the Hammer family dynasty," said ID and Discovery+ in a statement.

Other upcoming specials will delve into famous crime stories of the 1990s. Specials airing Sundays in August on ID include Menendez Brothers: Misjudged?, which takes a fresh look at the trial of Erik and Lyle Menendez for the murder of their parents; Mary Kay Letourneau: Notes on a Scandal, about a student-teacher relationship that made headlines; Who Killed Biggie and Tupac, which will look into the feud between the music legends; and The Killer Nanny, about the murder trial of British au pair Louise Woodward.

New series premiering in 2022 include Murder Next Door, Wild Wicked West (working title), and reboots of Who the (Bleep) Did I Marry and Disappeared.

During Domestic Violence Awareness Month in October, ID will also premiere Gabby Petito: An ID Murder Mystery, about the disappearance and death of Gabby Petito in 2021.
