Streaming platform Twitch is reportedly collaborating with Rockstar Games, the publisher of popular gaming franchise, Grand Theft Auto for the much-anticipated launch of GTA 6.

During a recent conversation with MeinMMO, Twitch’s Chief Monetization Officer, Mike Minton opened up about what the live streaming platform has in store for the launch of GTA 6, slated to release on May 26, 2026. Sharing that Twitch is working closely with Take-Two Interactive, which owns the label Rockstar Games, Minton said,

“We have teams that mainly work in business development. We work hand in hand with the publisher on all these major launches, as they want to know from us how to achieve the greatest success for their game on Twitch.”

Minton also shared that the collaboration between game developers and Twitch spans divisions of development as well as marketing, and added,

“So we have people who work both with the publisher and with Rockstar on the developer side and discuss what we have learned over the years. These are, for example, things like drops or other activations that can be done on Twitch through a big partnership with them. It’s both about marketing and business and the product itself.”

GTA 6’s upcoming launch is already building anticipation, with the release of the game’s second trailer reaching 377 million views on YouTube.

Mike Minton, while speaking to MeinMMO, shared that the strategy of Twitch’s collaboration with Rockstar Games and Take-Two Interactive will be characterized by a long-term approach. He said,

“I think it will be a wave that builds over time. That’s why we will have a long-term perspective regarding the various phases of the game from the start. First, the focus will be on the single-player campaign. That will be a key point. This game will likely be the biggest game of our lives, at least as we know it, and there will be a huge hype around it. We will work with Take-Two and so on to make it as big as possible for them and activate it on Twitch as they want for the launch of their game.”

Even though Twitch will initially focus on the single-player mode of GTA 6, Minton shared that plans are already in place to provide support for online multiplayer mode at a later stage. As per MeinMMO, he added,

“Then there will probably be a cycle around the online multiplayer at some point later, which will be an even more important segment in the life cycle of this game on Twitch because that’s where the magic begins to happen.”

Minton also opened up about roleplaying in the anticipated GTA 6, and noted,

“And hopefully…roleplaying will be available, whether through the necessary mod support or direct support from the developers if they choose to go that route. I don’t know.”

While Minton was not able to provide clarity on official Twitch roleplaying servers, he did suggest that the live streaming platform is working on generating an enduring engagement with the game.

During his conversation with MeinMMO, Minton also emphasized that creator-oriented features, which enable streamers to monetize their content, are prioritized by Twitch and are in line with the platform’s intent to foster a community-driven environment.
