Wanda Sykes Reportedly Canceled The View Appearance Over Alyssa Farah Griffin

Wanda Sykes canceled a scheduled appearance on The View last week upon learning that Alyssa Farah Griffin, an ex-Trump official and the frontrunner for the show's conservative seat, would be guest co-hosting, The Daily Beast reported on Tuesday.

Sykes was scheduled to stop by The View on Friday, July 15 to promote her Netflix sitcom The Upshaws, but according to two people familiar with the matter, she bailed when she learned Griffin would be at the table.

"She didn't want to be part of helping a Trumper launder her reputation," a View insider told The Daily Beast's Lachlan Cartwright.

The View declined to comment on this story. Primetimer has reached out to Sykes' team, but did not hear back by the time of publication.

Griffin, who also serves as a CNN contributor, has appeared on The View more than any other guest co-host throughout Season 25, and seems likely to win the seat left vacant by Meghan McCain last August. Before making the jump to television, she served as director of strategic communications for the Trump White House and press secretary for Vice President Mike Pence. She resigned in December 2020, and later told the women of The View she left due to concerns about Trump's efforts to overturn the results of the presidential election.

The View airs weekdays at 11:00 AM ET on ABC.
