The wait for The Last of Us will soon be over.
HBO dropped the first teaser for the highly-anticipated video game adaptation Monday, offering a chilling look at the Pedro Pascal-led series.
As in the popular video game, The Last of Us tells the story of Joel (Pascal), a traumatized survivor of the cordyceps fungus disease that has decimated the United States and turned its victims into zombie-like monsters called "clickers". In the midst of all the carnage and chaos, Joel is tasked with smuggling young Ellie (Game of Thrones' Bella Ramsey) out of a quarantine zone and across the country.
Joining Pascal and Ramsey in the cast are Gabriel Luna, Merle Dandridge, Nico Parker, Murray Bartlett, Nick Offerman, Anna Torv, Melanie Lynskey, and Jeffrey Pierce.
Chernobyl creator Craig Mazin and game writer/director Neil Druckmann serve as writers for all ten episodes.
The Last of Us premieres on HBO in 2023.
