Westworld Canceled by HBO

HBO has canceled Westworld.

The shocking move comes after the series wrapped up its fourth season in August. The sci-fi drama, which was once a big title for HBO, featured a star-studded ensemble including Thandiwe Newton, Evan Rachel Wood, Ed Harris, James Marsden, Tessa Thompson, Aaron Paul and more, had racked up over 50 Emmy Award nominations during its tenure. 

"Over the past four seasons, Lisa and Jonah have taken viewers on a mind-bending odyssey, raising the bar at every step," said HBO in a statement. "We are tremendously grateful to them, along with their immensely talented cast, producers and crew, and all of our partners at Kilter Films, Bad Robot and Warner Bros. Television. It’s been a thrill to join them on this journey."

Creators Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy expressed interest in wrapping up the series with a fifth season just last month. "We always planned for a fifth and final season," said Nolan. "We are still in conversations with the network. We very much hope to make them."

Westworld is streaming on HBO Max.
