Anthony Geary, who played the role of Roger in the 1971 drama All in the Family, alongside Rob Reiner, has passed away. The news of his sudden death on December 14 comes on the same day the news of Rob Reiner's death was announced. According to USA Today, Anthony Geary played the role of Roger, a close friend of Michael Stivic, played by Rob Reiner, who appeared in the Judging By the Covers episode, which premiered on February 9, 1971.
In the series, Roger is wrongly assumed to be gay by Archibald Bunker, played by Emmy-winning actor John Carroll O' Connor, because of the way he dresses. The news of the two beloved actors' deaths, both of whom were 78, has prompted a wave of condolences from colleagues and fans.
Anthony Geary, born Tony Dean Geary, rose to far-reaching fame with his role on General Hospital, where he played Luke Spencer for 37 years, from 1978 until 2015. According to Deadline, Anthony Geary, who lived a quiet life in Amsterdam away from the spotlight, passed away on Sunday, December 14, from the complications of a surgery that was done three days prior to his death.
The news of his death was announced by his husband, Claudio Gama, to whom he had been married since 2019. He released a statement to TV Insider, writing:
"It was a shock for me and our families and our friends. For more than 30 years, Tony has been my friend, my companion, my husband."
Rob Reiner, on the other hand, was found dead on December 14 alongside Michele Singer, to whom he had been married since 1989, in the couple's home in Brentwood, Los Angeles. According to Variety, Reiner, who is known for directing hit movies such as A Few Good Men, When Harry Met Sally, The Princess Bride and others, was found stabbed on Sunday afternoon by the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner. The authorities were called to the scene at around 3:30 p.m., but both Reiner and his wife were declared dead at the scene.
According to People Magazine, the couple's son, Nick Reiner, who has struggled with addiction issues was questioned and later arrested for the murder of both of his parents at around 9:15 p.m., 15 miles from the couple's home. Nick, who is set to be presented to the Los Angeles District Attorney's Office on Tuesday, was initially kept in police custody with the bail set at $4 million. Later, it was reported by various sources that he was ordered to remain in police custody without bail.
According to The Los Angles Times, Rob Reiner and his son Nick were allegedly involved in an argument on Saturday evening at a Christmas party hosted by Conan O'Brien.
