Ten New Shows to Watch on Netflix in March 2021

Spring approaches, and the new offerings from Netflix just keep on coming. The streamer continues to attract the biggest names, and it doesn't get much bigger than former first lady Michelle Obama, who's on hand with a new kid-oriented culinary adventure. Plus: the Money Heist team is back with a new high-adrenaline offering, and a pair of fresh reality shows join Big Red's already-packed roster.

Here are the new releases we're most looking forward to in March:

Murder Among the Mormons (NEW series)

True crime continues to be a huge draw, and this month's first offering goes back to 1985. The three-part docuseries tells the story of a trio of pipe bombings and counterfeit documents that shocked the Mormon community in Salt Lake City. This is the first comprehensive telling of a story that did more than just physical harm. Directed by Jared Hess and Tyler Measom (both were raised Mormon), the BBC Studios Production is set to explore the complex crimes, the mastermind behind them, and the lasting impact they've had on the community.

Pacific Rim: The Black (NEW series)

The battle between Kaiju and the Jaegers is far from over as the monsters versus robots match-up takes on new life as an anime-style series. Based on the live-action Pacific Rim movies, The Black loosely follows the arc of the Guillermo del Toro-directed installment, in which Australia has been overrun by Kaiju, and the entire continent has been evacuated. Well, except for teenage siblings Taylor and Hayley, who've been desperately searching for their parents for the last five years. After finding an abandoned and battered Jaeger, they attempt to use the creation to aid their quest (and survival).

Dealer (NEW series)

After the success of Lupin at the start of the year, Dealer promises to be another suspenseful French outing — although this ten-episode series is more Money Heist in tone. Music video director Franck (Sebastien Houbani) heads to the South of France on an assignment from a music label to film charismatic drug gang leader Tony (Abdramane Diakite), who has dreams of breaking into the rap scene. Unfortunately for Franck, he soon finds himself caught in a very dangerous gang war, and his camera can only protect him for so long.

Marriage or Mortgage (NEW series)

Moving house and organizing a wedding are considered two of the most stressful life events, and this new reality offering combines both costly endeavors, as real estate agent Nichole Holmes and wedding planner Sarah Miller help couples make a huge financial decision — and maybe trigger a few arguments. One magical day versus a foundation for the future may not seem like a difficult decision, but you haven't seen the fairy tale dress and venue tricks Miller's got up her sleeve to sway couples to her side

Last Chance U: Basketball (NEW series)

Last Chance U is taking on the world of community college basketball in this new spinoff series. The East Los Angeles College Huskies (ELAC) are looking to make it to the California state basketball championship in this eight-part series, with head coach John Mosley leading the charge. Challenges will face the team on and off the court, as time runs out for the players to make their mark.

The One (NEW series)

The One takes the concept of soul mates one step further by suggesting that a DNA test will help you find the person you're meant to be with in this eight-part thriller. Based on the book by John Marrs, Hannah Ware plays the ambitious CEO and founder of MatchDNA, who conjures up images of an Elizabeth Holmes-type figure. The implications of her new business are huge, including the potential to fracture even the strongest relationships — having a hair sample tested might be enough to ruin a happy pairing — and this sci-fi series is more crime drama than romance.

The Lost Pirate Kingdom (NEW series)

Promising to tell the story of the "real" Pirates of the Caribbean, docuseries The Lost Pirate Kingdom is set to chart the "Golden Age of Piracy," with experts and reenactments detailing the events behind legends like Black Beard who threatened the British Empire at sea. Hybrid docu-drama is not a new concept, but this one's set to lean heavily toward the swash-buckling action.

Waffles + Mochi (NEW series)

Executive producer Michelle Obama and a veritable who's who of familiar stars help puppets Waffles and Mochi embark on a global food expedition in this new series. Traveling to countries including Japan, Peru, and Italy to meet famous chefs like José Andrés might aid your next food adventures or even inspire the next generation to enter the kitchen.

Country Comfort (NEW series)

Katharine McPhee returns to the small screen, playing an aspiring country singer named Bailey whose career has hit a dead end. Taking a nanny job working for Beau (Eddie Cibrian), her never-give-up attitude may be just what this cowboy and his five children need. Despite her lack of childcare skills, Bailey will help warm their home, and Beau may have the answer to her singing dreams. Mixing a traditional family sitcom format with a dash of Overboard in how Bailey scores this gig — think broken down car instead of amnesia — brace for your heartstrings to be pulled.

Sky Rojo (NEW series)

Money Heist wrapped last year, but its creators are back with another action-packed venture. Sky Rojo follows three women running for their lives, and ups the pacing with each episode clocking in at 25 minutes. Exotic dancers Coral (Verónica Sánchez), Wendy (Lali Espósito), and Gin (Yany Prado) flee the Las Novias Club and must lean on each other to survive the perilous landscape. Costumes drenched in color and frenetic energy all add to this highly stylized action comedy.

The Irregulars (NEW series)

Sherlock Holmes is the most portrayed literary character of all time, and Netflix is adding another name to the list of actors who've assumed the legendary detective's mantle. Royce Pierreson plays Watson to Henry Lloyd-Hughes' Holmes, but this series is taking a different approach by focusing on the titular Irregulars, a group of teenage misfits who gather information and evidence to aid the world-famous sleuth. A new terrifying (and possibly supernatural) presence is leaving a trail of gruesome scenes in its wake, and the Irregulars are set to play an integral part in solving this mystery.
