Ten New and Returning Shows to Watch on Netflix in April 2022

It is a big month for Netflix with one of its biggest shows coming to an end, the highly anticipated return of Russian Doll, and another season of high-end real estate favorite Selling Sunset. Not to mention a new dating show with a bold premise, a political thriller starring Sienna Miller and Rupert Friend, and two very different teen shows. Here are the new releases and returning series we're most looking forward to this month:

The Bubble (NEW film)

Judd Apatow has assembled a fun cast (including Pedro Pascal, Karen Gillan, Kate McKinnon, and David Duchovny) in this comedy about a group of actors making a flying dinosaur franchise sequelduring the pandemic. It is a family affair for the director with wife Leslie Mann and daughter Iris Apatow playing two of the actors stuck in the pandemic shooting bubble.

The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On (NEW series)

Vanessa and Nick Lachey return to Netflix with a different twist from the Love is Blind producers. Marriage is a big step and the six couples taking part in this new show have reached a crossroads with one person ready to tie the knot and the other still unsure. The Ultimatum gives them the chance to commit or quit the relationship forever. Each will choose a new potential partner from among the other couples to see if the grass is truly greener on the other side. What could possibly go wrong?

Elite, Season 5

The Spanish murder teens are back, even if the original cast has dwindled down to Samu (Itzan Escamilla) and Omar (Omar Ayuso). There are still plenty of familiar faces (and some new ones), including last year’s almost murder victim Ari (Carla Díaz). Every season typically starts with a new mystery and a dead body — or a dead-ish body — while events flash back to reveal what led to this bloody moment. No doubt the Las Encinas high school students will be causing trouble and getting hot and heavy once more.

Our Great National Parks (NEW series)

President Barack Obama steps into Sir David Attenborough’s shoes as he narrates (and executive producers) this docuseries celebrating the world’s national parks. Taking the viewer on a journey from Kenya’s Tsavo National Park to the protected waters of Monterey Bay, California this five-parter highlights the beauty across the globe and why it needs preserving.

Anatomy of a Scandal (NEW series)

Based on the best-selling novel from Sarah Vaughan is a new six-part series that is part psychological thriller, part courtroom drama. David E. Kelley has a flare for a story that isn’t quite what it seems and this political scandal follows that path with Rupert Friend playing MP James Whitehouse who is accused of rape. Wife Sophie (Sienna Miller) begins to question everything as barrister Kate Woodcroft (Michelle Dockery) threatens to tear Westminster and Whitehouse apart.

White Hot: The Rise & Fall of Abercrombie & Fitch (NEW film)

There was a time in the late ‘90s and early ‘00s when Abercrombie & Fitch ruled the mall with its hot models, signature scent, and dance music pumping through its stores. Selling a fantasy promotes an aspirational image, but behind the scenes the brand was lining up scandals including exclusionary marketing and discriminatory hiring. This new feature-length documentary explores the rise and fall of the former clothing giant.

Russian Doll, Season 2

It has been three long years since Nadia (Natasha Lyonne) got stuck in a time loop alongside Alan (Charlie Barnett) that saw the day constantly reset at the moment they die. Season 2 is set four years after this original existential adventure, as the pair find themselves diving deeper into their pasts through an unexpected time portal. Nadia has previously been plagued by a version of herself from her childhood, and her relationship with her mother (Chloë Sevigny reprises her role) is a pivotal part of her story. Plus, Schitt's Creek's Annie Murphy joins the cast!

Selling Sunset, Season 5

Expensive houses, office drama, and a new romance are all in the cards as Selling Sunset embarks on its fifth season. The cast of luxury realtors continues to grow with Chelsea Lazkani joining the Oppenheim Group alongside last season’s newcomers Emma Hernan & Vanessa Villela, and the original line-up.

Heartstopper (NEW series)

Teen romance Heartstopper is based on the bestselling LGBTQ+ graphic novel that tells the story of Charlie (Joe Locke) and Nick (Kit Connor). Navigating an all-boys grammar school when feelings bubble beneath the surface takes Charlie on a journey of self-discovery after an unlikely friendship blossoms into an unexpected romance in the eight-part coming of age series.

Ozark, Season 4 Part 2

“I’m a cursed Langmore,” says Emmy-winning Julia Garner as the vengeful Ruth in the teaser for the final Ozark episodes. Ruth’s fury is fueled by the murder of her cousin Wyatt, and the last part of the hit series picks up in the aftermath of this harrowing event. Who will survive is anyone’s guess, but there will be answers to the Byrde family minivan crash that was teased in the flashforward in the Season 4 premiere.
