This 9-Year-Old Singer Just Made AGT History

The America's Got Talent Season 16 audition round isn't over yet, but one contestant has already made history. Last night, 9-year-old singer Victory Brinker notched a place in the AGT record books when she became the first-ever contestant to earn a collective Golden Buzzer from the judges.

Believe it or not, it was Simon Cowell who initiated the proceedings when he called an all-hands-on-deck meeting to discuss Brinker's fate. "How would you feel if we were to do something different?" he asked fellow judges Howie Mandel, Sofia Vergara, and Heidi Klum, and host Terry Crews. They nodded in agreement before Cowell turned his attention back to the young star. "As I said, turning up, in terms of your career, is really important," he began. "However, we're not going to give you a yes today."

"We're going to do something else we've never, ever, ever done on the show before. We are all going to give you something special," Cowell continued. He counted down, and when he got to one, all five of them pressed down on the Golden Buzzer, sending confetti flying.

Brinker's Golden Buzzer earns her an automatic spot in AGT's live shows later this summer, when she'll compete against a host of other Golden Buzzer-winning performers, including singer Nightbirde, the Wold Taekwondo Demonstration Team, and quick-change performer Léa Kyle.

America's Got Talent airs Tuesdays at 8:00 PM ET on NBC.
